December 16th, 2017 - Thursday night brought Timothy Culp to The Dome at America’s Center (St. Louis, Missouri) pulling double duty in the Super Late Model and Open Wheel Modified ranks for the second annual VP Racing Fuels Gateway Dirt Nationals. In a field of 94 Super Late Models split amongst two groups, Culp recorded the 15th fastest time earning him the 4th-starting position for his heat race on Friday night. In the Modified division, Timothy laid down the eighth fastest time in his group but was taken out by another competitor early in his heat race.

Running into more trouble on Friday night, Culp had a piece of the nose of his Super Late Model ripped off sending him into the B-Main. Starting in 14th, Timothy charged through the field 12 spots in the 12-lap affair to lock his spot into the $5,000-to-win feature with a 2nd place finish. Starting in 20th, Culp improved eight more spots reeling in a 12th place finish. In the Open Wheel Modified B-Main, Timothy fell short of a transfer position with a 7th place outing.

Wrapping up the Gateway Dirt Nationals on Saturday evening, Culp edged his way into the $30,000-to-win finale with a 2nd place finish in his B-Main behind Scott Bloomquist. Rolling off 17th, Timothy gained six positions in the 40-lap affair to place 11th. He came up short of a transfer position his Modified consolation event with a 7th place finish.
